Paddle Out Art Exhibit

  • Marina 59 360 Beach 59th Street Queens, NY, 11692 United States (map)

Last month, the Laru Beya Collective received both Arts Access and Community Arts grant funding to put together a screen printing workshop with our young surfers.

They explored their feelings around the ocean, celebrated their home in the Far Rockaways, responded to recent youth drownings in the Rockaways, and posthumously commemorated our beloved and missed Laru Beya Collective member Laura Bernhardt Deckelman.

The workshop culminates in a public exhibit—an artistic representation of the traditional Paddle Out. Join us in viewing their finished works from 12–3pm EST, December 11th at Marina 59 in Far Rockaway.

This event and project program is made possible (in part) by the Queens Council on the Arts with public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.

This event and project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Queens Council on the Arts.
