Join us this Sunday December 17 in cleaning up our beaches! We’ll meet at 10am on Beach 67th - 144 Beach 67th Street, Arverne, NY 11692 144 Beach 67th Street, Arverne, NY 11692 for 1 hour to clean up our beaches!

Our findings will be used to make surfboard sculptures for our art project "Staying Afloat: Sustainable Recycled Surfboard Sculptures" with the Buena Onda Collective!

Water, bags, and gloves will be provided, but we strongly encourage you to bring your own reusable water bottles/cups to help reduce our carbon footprint!

This month, our focus will be on gathering debris and litter from the areas surrounding Beach 67.

We’ll continue to use our findings to make surfboard sculptures and body surf handplanes for our art project "Staying Afloat: Sustainable Recycled Surfboard Sculptures" with the Buena Onda Collective!

Water, bags, and gloves will be provided, but we strongly encourage you to bring your own reusable water bottles/cups to help reduce our carbon footprint!

Laru Beya Collective Presents: Fourth Annual Totally Ghoul Halloween Surf + Costume Contest

The Laru Beya Collective + friends will be hosting our Fourth Annual Totally Ghoul Halloween Surf + Costume Contest on SUNDAY OCTOBER 29! Prepare to show off your best costumes - both on land and in the water. We will be giving out prizes to MULTIPLE winners during an on-beach portion and a surfing portion. There will be grom, adult, beginner, and group categories.

*Surfing is not a must to participate in the costume contest.*

Categories for the surfing portion are:

MONSTER MASH: Rip sticks, middies, logs. OH MY! The contest's main category. Enter at your own risk.

GROMBIEZ: Grombiez only! Age 16 and below.

WHITEWATER WEREWOLVES: New to surfing? But want to get wet and have a howlin' of a time anyway? All ages welcome.

SQUAD GHOULS: The contest's group category. Tandem surfing is not required, but matching costumes are! Contestants will be expected to catch the same wave.

BEACH CONTEST: This is where you’ll strut your stuff and show off your best costumes on land.

STAY TUNED FOR PRIZES!

All ticket profits will go directly to Laru Beya Collective. The funds will be used for the development and expansion of our youth surf, climbing, and stewardship programs in 2024.
